Abstract
The article presents a brief biography of Academician G.A. Sofronov and reflects his contribution to the development of general and military toxicology, as well as to chemical safety. The main stages of the scientist’s research and organizational activities, his role in the formation of scientific schools and personnel training are highlighted.
