Abstract

The analysis of special literature showed that the issues of terminology and classification of injuries and injuries of the maxillofacial region have not been fully resolved and are the subject of discussion. A number of ballistic studies have shown that there are no universal patterns of damage or injury severity. For the purposes of criteria systematization of mine-explosive wounds of the face according to localization and severity, full-scale tests were carried out using dummies of heads and bone-soft tissue preparations. Based on the test results, a criteria-based classification of injuries and injuries of the maxillofacial region was developed. The proposed classification makes it possible to assess the severity and localization of damage in mine-explosive wounds and injuries. The developed methodology for the criterion assessment of mine-explosive wounds and injuries can be used on biological objects to assess the effectiveness of armor protection.

Keywords: maxillofacial region, gunshot wounds, mine-explosive wound, clinical and anatomical classification, individual armor protection.
