Abstract

This article presents a clinical case of an 83-year-old patient with biliary ileus at the duodenal level (Bouvier’s syndrome), which is a rare localization of an gallstone duodenal obstruction. The article highlights the challenges in timely diagnosis and surgical management, which were influenced by the patient’s complaints and anamnesis, as well as the results of physical and instrumental examinations, that lead to the suspicion of gastrointestinal bleeding. The diagnosis of acute duodenal obstruction syndrome was the basis for surgical intervention, including laparotomy, duodenotomy, and gallstone extraction to resolve the intestinal obstruction.

Keywords: Bouveret syndrome, biliary obstruction, intestinal obstruction, gallstone disease, biliodigestive fistula and gastrointestinal bleeding.
