Unexpected anti-b antibodies in a patient with blood type B

A 68-year-old female patient with a benign tumor in the right breast tested for ABO blood group phenotype using a solid-phase test. The presence of the B antigen and anti-A and anti-B antibodies was detected. This result was confirmed by a gel test. A sectoral resection of the right breast was performed. The postoperative period was uneventful. Based on available information, this case report is the first to describe the detection of anti-B antibodies in a patient with blood type B.
