Abstract

The article provides an overview of current trends in the treatment of patients with carotid artery disease who have a high perioperative risk. The review includes a presentation of the clinical features of «high» risk patients, the methods used to detect them, the choice of optimal treatment tactics, as well as an analysis of the complications that accompany the intervention and ways to prevent them.

Keywords: carotid artery, stenosis, stroke, carotid stenting, carotid endarterectomy, perioperative risk.
