Abstract

The history of the world’s first department and clinic of military field surgery of the Military Medical Academy, founded in 1931 by Professor V.A. Oppel — the creator of the system of staged treatment of the wounded, which is now used by military surgeons around the world. For 90 years of existence, the department was a recognized scientific, medical and educational-methodical center of military field surgery.

Purpose — to show the importance of the Military Field Surgery Department in the formation of military medical doctrine, the development of methods for the provision of surgical care to the wounded, training of military surgeons.
